I planned to grow cucumber, tomato and peppers in my greenhouse, i also planned to plant a large number of basil plants around the tomato's, i have read that cucumbers are not compatible with aromatic herbs and was wondering if anyone has had problems with this before, and if the fact they are all in the same greenhouse 6x4 classes them as companion planting

I find that I only need about 3 basil plants that last through the year and these I grow on the windowsill indoors rather than in the greenhouse where they can dry out easily.
I even cheat and buy a growing basil plant from the supermarket and split that into three.
I hadn't heard that cucumber isn't compatible with aromatic herbs, where did you read that?

According to an article I found the other week, cucumbers shouldn't be grown with tomatoes and sage. It gives no reason why and I'd be inclined to ignore it as I've quite happily grown them with toms for years with no problems. It also says that it's good with nasturtiums, radishes, marigolds, sunflowers peas, beets, carrots, and dill but again no reason given. I've found that if you can get cucs past the small stage when they can be suspect to rotting then there's no stopping them so I wouldn't worry too much. Do your original plan and see how it goes.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
