  • Improving poor soil

Is it ok to use multipurpose compost to improving really poor soil? Its alot cheaper then manure to buy, I don't drive so can't go pick any manure up. Or would the compost make the ground too wet in winter and too dry in summer?

ANY organic material added to the soil is going to have beneficial effects!

Manure would be much cheaper if you could get a load delivered but it takes a while to rot down and for the soil to be useable. MPC is a superb conditioner but there must be cheaper sources of organic material.

Homebase do 70L of compost for just under £3, so will use that! Its only for some small(ish) flower beds anyway. Thanks for the help
