How long have you been gardening?

My dad made me first green house out of plastic covered pallets in 1955 and I've been mucking about at it every year since in varying degrees.From a tiny townie type garden to nearly half an acre,but as has been said still learning.

Not counting the little flower bed I had as a kid, I've been growing veg since we married - 38 years.

Been growing mynown veg since I was about 12, then had a 13 year leave of absence when I was working in London, started again in 2001 when we moved to Inverness then to Tain and grow veg for a living now About to enter my third growing season as a "pro"

I've been gardening for more than 11 years but haven't been into fruit and veg growing until last year and apart from a few herbs all were bought in plantlets.

I talk a good garden and to quote Bart Simpson, "Everytime I learn something new, it pushes some of the old stuff out of my brain"

I've had fruit in pots e.g strawberries, raspberries, blackberries. for a couple of years now.

this is my first year on the allotment though, i just hope i get something to grow...

I started 'gardening' with my grandad at the age of three, but didn't really garden until i got my first house and that was flower gardening which was twenty years ago!! As far as veggie growing goes only about a year and this is the first year on my lottie. Like braders though i am definitely no yoda..

wowow i didn't expect this thread to take off like this!
i kind of hoped i would get to see what kind of mix of growers there are on the great and honourable grapevine, but this has been such an interesting read so far.
it has really made me look forward even more to all the things that are going to happen to me along my own journey into green-fingered land!

This is only year two for me. I'm finding this time of year very frustrating. even though im in my 40's and far far more patient than I was as a lad , I soooo want to see some food growing away. Im in my 2nd proper year of duck keeping too and its just as bad , one duck has come in to lay so far this spring and im out there evey day wondering what the other 7 ladies are going to start earning their keep. The generosity of spirit of fellow growers is lifting my spirits though , not something I'm used to in my previous

I have been gardening for over twenty years,but only been growing vegetables for two years. when I was younger I worked as a gardener on this lovely estate in Surrey, but it was all lawns, hedges and flower beds,what some call pleasure gardens.
So I have good all round gardening knowledge, but I am a newbie a sfar as growing fruit and vegetables and this will be my first season on an allotment.

This is my 3rd year growing, I have my wife to thank for introducing me.

I used to wander round following and 'helping' my father when I was young. He grew mostly mediterranean veggies as my mother's Italian in a tiny back garden in south wales, and lots and lots of fuschias, and flowers in containers.
I've been growing veg in containers for about 6 years but got the use of a huge garden and bit the bullet 3 years ago, last year I made some proper raised beds, and now I have 6 beds to fill - not a problem judging by my over-enthusiastic seed buying
I don't do flowers, well, not by design anyway, but will be planting some this year for the bees.
I'm currently extremely chuffed that my garlic is growing well. It's amazing how good it feels to see everything growing.
