Hi everyone at long last I`ve got my allotment.
& my blisters are big and ripe
I`m clearing all the weeds & don`t know where to start all suggestions welcome what can I plant now ?

If you have a relatively sheltered site (i.e. doesn't get toooo windy and cold), you could try in Oct/Nov sowing some broad beans and peas (not all varieties suitable). You might be able to get onion sets and garlic suitable for autumn planting. Some salad stuff can be sown if you can protect it from the nasty winter weather. You could even try sowing some hardy annuals around the plot in the hope they flower earlier and attract the nice buzzy bees to pollinate your early broadies.

Congratulations on getting your lottie. I'm just trying to get the weeds cleared for planting garlic and japanese onions and some salad onions. Broad beans were also suggested to me when I first got my lottie 5 weeks ago but unfortunately I can't stand them so that was a no no. I think also you can plant out spring cabbages. Anyway as a newbie I'm only passing on advice the guys on here kindly gave me a few weeks ago - they will be far more helpful than me. Good luck with it.

Congratulations, I only just cleared my plot back in April so still a newbie.

I got garlic, xmas spuds, broc, leeks, sprouts and beans in, maybe you could buy some veg plants to give you a head start and give you some encorougment.

Well done. Being kinda new myself I can only advise you of set onions, garlic and broad beans.

Don't worry though it wont be long before you are sowing everything and planting loads

angie my best friend on the plot has been my hoe, it has done more work than my folk. the weeds hate but i love it.

I got my papers back from the Council today, so I'm also the proud 'owner' of an allotment as of today .

Annoyingly, I am on a course all of tomorrow, but Sunday will see me & hubby clearing some of the rubbish & weeds from our new half plot. Now starts the hard work... I'm far more excited by this than the fact that our college had its Ofsted inspection this week, and we've been given 'outstanding'.
- from this week on, it'll just be the job of weeding that will forever be outstanding...
