Sprouting Mustard seeds

Whilst preparing a curry today using amongst other things, yellow mustard seeds, I'm left wondering whether these (Julian Graves) Yellow Mustard Seeds would be the same sort of mustard seeds I grew as a child, alongside cress on a flannel!

Do you think if I sprouted them they would edible and any idea what they would grow into if I planted them?

I usually grow coriander from seeds that I buy for next to nothing from an Asian foodstore, so am game to try 'growing' these!

Why not - you could end up with a mushy mess or some little sprouts.

Gardening is all about trial and error and experimenting.

Have done a bit of Googling since and it appears that there are loads of seeds that can be sprouted, not only the usual ones like alfalfa and aduki beans but beetroot, broccoli, cabbage, radish, carrot and leek apparently. I guess if you don't want to plant all your seeds or swap them, you can always sprout them in a jam jar! That's what I'm doing with my mustard seeds - I'll report back in a few days!

I threw some down on a raised bed last year and had a bed full of mustard seedlings a few weeks later.
