  • Where to buy flower pots?

The large bed next to our driveway is overrun with ivy, wild strawberry (yes, that can become a pest!), bricks, broken glass, and other assorted rubbish. It needs a complete digging out and overhaul but there are a few perennials which I want to save and have no other bed in which to put them.

Therefore I need to buy a couple of dozen large (10" or 12") pots in which to store the evictees.

Probably the easiest thing for us is to buy online, are there any companies you'd particularly suggest provide good value (and are there any I might want to avoid?)

    Many thanks

I was going to suggest Wilkinsons, and sometimes Sainsburys have cheap terracotta ones.
Depending on how pretty you want them to be, you could also buy cheap black plastic ones from Poundland, or ask in supermarkets if they have any used flower containers going spare.

Thanks Taff, I'd forgotten about Wilkos, and on Saturday we have to go into Workington which has a variety of Poundland-type places. That'll make Management happy - he loves an excuse to bimble around in stores like that, finds all sorts of rubbish we absolutely don't need!

If you've got a poundstretcher near you I saw some really cheap pots, all plastic, some green some terracotta coloured, also poundshop had some deep planters in yesterday (about 50cm) plastic terracotta coloured ones.

Oh, thanks for that - definitely worth a quick visit at the weekend.

Thanks also to Mrs H. but if I can get terracota for a quid then that is a much preferred route. At least I can recycle them as crocks when they get smashed

              On offer in Wilko's

              Thanks again for the suggestions.

Popped into Wilkinsons this morning. They are doing "3 for 2" on all planters so I picked up a quantity of 32cm tubs which worked out at a fraction under £1.00 each.

They also had 24cm black tomato pots for 79p which seem fairly robust.

Guess I have no excuse now not to make a start on clearing out that long bed . . .
