FoxHill, That is a good link.

I mentioned Loewe in my previous post of 27th August. The following link gives similar information for the Loewe Secateurs:

    Blade change - Original Löwe

The drop-down menu to the top left of the illustration takes you to information on all Loewe models.

Gardeners who still have ROLCUT Secateurs will find the information on the Loewe 1 secateur useful as these are the same secateurs. Take a look at THE COMPANY link and follow HISTORY for information on the relationship with ROLCUT

I read once that most Secateurs and scissors can be sharpened using tin foil... fold a piecve of aluminium foil several times, cut through it lots of times and apparently they will be sharper...ive never actually tried it...

Been a chef I know a sharp tool is the key to easy work!!! 17.5 degrees is the optimum angel for cutting. The harder the steel the finer the angel you can go! Just get a pack of needle files which you can pick up at a hobby store for cheap! and gentley shrapen them slowly. Slower is better as if you go to far you cant go back=] Easy to do honestly!!!!

          How to sharpen secateurs

In the crafting world, we use kitchen foil to cut to sharpen our scissors etc. so it should be ok for other bladed items.

Remember seeing Monty explain the roll/de-burr. Made it simple in my mind and I've done it that way ever since. Quite easy when you get the swing of it.

              How to sharpen secateurs

What a fascinating thread. Might have a go at resurecting(sp?) the older secs. My problem now is, What can I do about my (upright) shredder? It is working alright but the blades are no longer sharp enough the shred the "sticks". Is this a pro. job, and what is it likely to cost?
