This is only my second year and I have now bought myself a special pretty 'vanity' case for mine. Even though I am not a hoarder and de clutter too much in other areas of my life I am collecting seeds at an alarming rate. In fact I've just today bought some poppy seeds, don't need them, nowhere to put them but hey ho, they can be in a seed tray for some weeks till I find a space...mmmmmm I'm thinking maybe in the front garden?

Just when I think I've got myself under control (walked right through the newly laid out seed section at the GC today without buying anything!!), I pick up my copy of GYO and....Arrrgghh! FREE COURGETTE SEED!!!
Inspite of the fact that I planted a whole packet of courgette seed two weeks ago and they are all popping up, I... must....plant..more..ca.n't resist..Oh Lordy, the sweaty palms have started.......

My seeds are in a cake box. I keep wanting to buy more even though I have loads. I've even sent for the free ones from Gardeners world and GYO magazine and while I was on the site for the gyo seeds I ended up buying a salad collection for next year AAAArgh!!!

Might as well face it we're addicted to this. It's so nice to know you're not alone, or sad. I've been looking for a better tin than the one I am using so I can put them in some sort of order. Then I wouldn't have to keep taking them all out to look at them. Who am I kidding?

I have a very overflowing biscuit tin, plus a basket with stuff that I might not use this year but don't want to get rid of, plus another small tin with my own-saved seeds in... I haven't counted packets, but there's a lot!! I had managed to resist buying any this year, a few seed swaps sorted out the odd things I was missing, but... Zazen mentioned a lovely sounding Red Iceberg yesterday from Real Seeds, and my finger just slipped on the Buy button...

The others might remember earlier in the year when my seed box went missing.. Oh my!! What a panic I had for a few days And what bliss it was looking at them all when I found it

Phewf! ...and I was beginning to think I was the sad crazy one!

My seeds are stood up in an old ice-cream tub and last year I sorted them all out in terms of when to sow. I then made a list from Jan thro to Dec and listed the varieties that should be grown then and brief descriptions of how. I thought that was something I should really keep quiet about!

I have that seed buying compulsion too! Anywhere that has them on half-price or sells cheap seeds are a favourite of mine! Aldi's can be good 39p a pack, I've got some Wilko branded seeds at 49p, have bought Lidl's at 39p too and don't ever go into Poundland! Oh my word! They do various packs of seeds (for a pound obviously!) that are themed - ie salad - you get lettuce, spring onion, radish, cucumber, tomato, and cress! What a bargain! And you just cannot resist a bargain like that!

Have a separate tub for flower seeds but I'm not quite as mad with those.

Somehow, accidentally I'm now up to 35 packets.
And the shortbread tin is bursting at the seams.

I like the CD case idea. They definitely need to be standing up for easy browsing. Maybe alphabetized

No tin either, but I'm up to 50 packets of seeds! I only started this growing lark last year!

I'm also a member of the "take the seeds out to look at them and get excited about planting time" group! And again I periodically have to write down the list of seeds I have just for fun, my boyfriend thinks I'm obsessed!

Hi everyone, this thread has really made my day. I'm new to gardening but am becoming addicted at an alarming rate and oh the joy at looking at packets of seeds! I seem to be totally obssessed with seeds and sowing at the moment and OMG the sheer delight when they actually germinate - why has it taken me so long to discover this 'secret world'! Have to confess though to showing my Father in Law my seedlings (with some pride!!) to have him crack up laughing at my lovely carrot seedlings growing in the seed tray! Obviously I'm on a steep learning curve!

I too, have amassed a ton of seed packets (too many to count) filling a big shortbread tin! I like ordering online, aiming for 2 packs and end up with 6 or 7. Then there's weekly trips to Wilkos (or my Relaxation Spot, as my wife calls it) and freebies with GYO. Where am I going to find the space to plant everything??? (oh, and yes, I love looking through them :-))
