    Because it's IMPORTANT
I keep a notebook for names of seeds and plants I've bought, a general 'what I did today' summary, notes on when things come into flower, when tadpoles and other wildlife appear, blah blah... My memory is awful so it has become a useful reference tool. On days when I'm not well enough to get into the garden, looking through this notebook - and the endless photos of my garden on the laptop! - cheers me up

Good to know i'm not the only one who has a collection of seeds, doesn't matter where i go if they sell seeds i know i'm in trouble. Ended up with another packet of carrots today and some corriander. Hate to think what will happen when wilkinsons does their half price sale then 75% of sale on gardening stuff like they do every year. seriously think it has become an obsession need a bigger box soon. Now wondering what i am going to do with 80 pepper plants .

I used to have a concertina folder but now have 'upgraded' to a 10 drawer mini filing cabinet. :/ In fact, I gave a load of seeds away on Freecycle a month back as I had too many, including duplicates - why oh why the duplicates - fink I am a seedaholic so it's good to know I'm not the only one!

Because otherwise you might accidentally buy a second packet of something you already have - and where's the fun in that?

My seed list is now in my gardening Filofax - I have made my own "seed inventory" Filofax pages so I can record the type and variety of seed, quantity, where and when bought, date opened and sow-by date, and I use the standard A-Z tab index to organise the pages alphabetically

It might seem obsessive, but OTOH it saves all the bother of remembering what I already have and what needs replacing. I use "Getting Things Done" to organise myself, and an important part of that approach is putting everything down on paper so you don't waste mental energy trying to remember stuff. That's my excuse, anyway!

            Thank god!!
I bought 2 plastic covered books[less mud on pages] from WHSmiths, with a neat little elastic band to keep it shut[no extra insects allowed in] and rippable out pages[in case I write something wrong and want to re-write] to use for my observations about what to grow, when to grow it, possible companion planting, any good tips etc etc.
I also have a cardboard box the slug traps came in full fo seeds, need more room, they're all squashed in...
I also go to the graden centre, and stand for up to an hour in front of the seeds[and that's only part of the veg] to see what's there, what do I like, what looks interesting, and what is on my 'I wish I could grow that' list.
I have my own spot there now

There's an elderly chap in Wilkinson's with his own spot... trouble is, it's right in front of the cheap vegetable seeds. Huffing impatiently at his elbow has no effect. Nor does making a performance of craning my neck to look at the packets nearest him. May have to resort to flinging a handful of seed packets across the shop to see if he feels compelled to chase after them like a retriever...

This is my first year growing anything for about 18 years perhaps more! I signed up on here last September; my garden was a mess back then and my greenhous was battered and some glass was broken so was too late to do much growing.

Since then I have tidied up my garden, dug most of the borders and got rid of masses of weeds and old roots. Tidied up and cleaned the greenhouse with the help of a new friend from the vine!! I have also whiled away hours and hours on her gathering information, some seeds from some lovely grapes and also some good friends! I have also hunted down some interesting seeds from here and there ready for a good start this year! (Cheshire cat grinn on my mush)

A while ago I was bought some makeup in a nice shiny metallic pink vanity case. I was going to get rid of the empty case but then had second thoughts! "Needles to say it makes a much better place to keep my ever growing collection of seed packets!” I think I have just a little more room for some more in there yet! Muhah ha ha ha, I love all this it is so nice to know that it is not me going potty! Its all those none gardening peeps out there that have the problem, not us!!
I was thinking the other day about getting a ring binder and some divider sheets. That way I can alphabetically list what seeds I have and keep notes on them as I sow seeds, how the plants grow, see what works and also keep notes of any problems. That way I will have a record of how things go, that I can refer back to. Then at the end of the season when there is not much to do in the garden, I can have some bed-time reading and review everything! That will hopefully refuel my addiction through the winter months and spur me on for next year!

Happy growing peeps! (I'm lovin it, lovin it, right now!! lol

I'm *trying* to have a clear out of mine, most of which I've got for free through various websites, with magazines etc.

Trouble is, I have to go and buy some compost at the weekend so am fully expecting to come back with armfulls more

I found that over Easter as well and now have a variety of seeds in various pots hopefully germinating. Just don't do what I do and look at the total including postage as you are ordering and think you've got to a fiver when in reality you haven't.

They are an impressive company aren't they ?! I ordered on Easter Monday and they turned up on the Wednesday which was great.
