If you ever notice ice/frost starting to form and have no cloths available, another way is to use a sprinkler to mist the garden with cold water, prevents frost/ice damage , if you only have a hand sprayer, soak the plants leaves at night

-3.5 inside the greenhouse last night, lots of the toms in the greenhouse affecxted but they may recover as the stems are still very firm. luckily only around half have been affected to I still have about 30 toms unafected.

Ok, so last night - no frost forecast for here - but there's frost this morning. I'm not sure why I bother looking at a forecast.

Hard frost here too comfreyfan, hoping everything is still okay. I use this site for weather as you can type in you postcode and it gives predicted frost and soil temps etc for gardening.

Useful to know we shouldn't rely solely on the forecasts, but

Guess it's best to judge yourself night by night.

On Sat night it was -2 degrees here but no frost not even a car windscreen glistening. It did feel that cold but maybe it was too dry.
