Thanks Selfraising
I was looking to find details for squashes as mine seem to be taking awhile, it says 18c, just need to look up if there is a technique, if they need soaking and time til germination.
It is the colourfull mixed and stripy squashes that i am most looking forward to growing, so its frustrating that mine have not got going yet!

I have raked the soil and planted the seeds
Now I've joined the army that fights the weeds.
If I click on that link I get popups over the interesting bits. The page is part of the Recipes4us site, so I think this link works better (for me at least).
Here's a question - all these germination temperatures.... do one assume that earth/compost temperature matches that of air temperature - I imagine its quite a bit lower, especially outside.
So if a seed needs 18deg to germinate - would it work in 18deg air temp, or would the compost/soil still need a bit more heating to get it to 18?
Anyone used a soil thermometer?
I know this is all rather over technical and arbitrary - but its worth finding out.
