We (me and dad) started with one ofthe greenhouses with the plastic glass panels if that makes sense. We had only been ling in Ayr for a couple of months then and didn't know how strong the winds could be. The greenhouse was badly damaged but luckily we were covered by the insurance so I now have a new greenhouse with fitting included just sitting in the garden waiting for the base to be built.

As for the tomatoes I've probably got the name wrong Yep just double checked and I had the name wrong. Its Lucciola

This small and delicious plum tomato comes out tops for flavour, producing a uniform crop of small, luminous red, oval fruits.

The indeterminate plants are compact and healthy with good disease resistance.

You can also grow salad leaves and tomatoes in hanging baskets - be creative! when you're addicted to growing stuff you can find somewhere to put more and more!!

          Good luck with your greenhouse!

I love the little cherry toms, so far from what I can remember I have Black Cherry, Lillipop, Brown Berry, (Royal Chico these are plums look nice), Orange Banana, Cream Sausage, Tigerrellas, Brandywine and Vintagewine mostly 4-5 plants of each but just a few from that list I only have perhaps 2-3 of!

I just wanted to try some different ones! Years ago I used to grow Moneymaker and Allicanti and that was that! It is only really since the end of last year that I have looked into things to start up again from scratch for this year and found so many weard and wonderfull things out there begging to be grown. lol

(Irie's got to go to re-hab but she says NO! NO! NO!

            Rehab is bad

These are the tomatoes that I have bought from ebay

MONEY MAKER - RIO GRANDE - CERISE - BLACK CHERRY - BLACK KRIM - YELLOW GRAPE

They just looked interesting. I think from now on I will buy tomato plants rather than seed just so I can get lots of different ones. These 6 cost £5.99 plus p&p. I'm not sure how long seeds last when they are opened.

My name is Welsh, and I am a gardenaholic too.... Wife doesnt get it at all, not interested, prefers telly to digging and weeding. Tonight I put up my beanpoles, saw a bat and enjoyed the evening air. She watched Hells Kitchen. However I forgive her because she cooked a great seabass dinner and let me go to B&Q to pick up some extra radish seeds for intercropping with my garlic! That's proper love....

I don't know if things have changed in recent years, but usually garden centres have only a limited selection of varieties - the reason many people grow stuff from seed is to get the more interesting varieties. Also, tomato seeds last several years if kept cool and dry, and if you get bored with (or don't like) the ones you've got, you could always swap some with a fellow Grape. I've swapped a lot of my spare seed this year, which is one reason I have such a long list of things to grow!

I was going to suggest exactly the same, Eyren. Thanks to the lovely swaps people have done with me on this site I've got a whole load of new varieties growing that I'd never even heard of before, all swapped for surplus of my own veggies and flowers.

Have to say the one thing that surprised me was that all tomato leaves aren't the same. When the Brandywine came up I thought I'd got a duff batch.

Well the lovely post office bought my 66 double petunia plants for the front garden, the connector for my bbq, 3 big planters for what I don't know and 2 tins of green Cuprinol.

When new seedlings appear I give my wife and two teenage sons a conducted tour of my lotti. My wife thinks it's quite quirky, the teenagers.. well whatever!!

Susie if you keep your seeds cool and dry away from sunlight as well they might be ok for next year as well! you can always collect some seeds from your toms at the end of the season rince tham clean as you can and dry them slowley away from diredc heat and out of the sun as well!! they should grow for you!

Have a look at this web site!
Saving Tomato Seeds - Seed Saving for Next Year's Tomato Crop

There are other sites on the net as well this is just the first one I picked! Try and remind me at the end of the season and I will send you some seeds from my toms! I would have thought that paying for the plants would cost more than seeds especially if you want to try a few different types!
