    Hi Does any one know how to get a cutting of a cherry tree.
    I don't know what type it is sorry.

    cut it off in september the cutting should be 12 inch or 30 cms and dip it in water then hormone rooting power the put it in a generous sized plant pot, it will be 50-50 wether it will take and will require a spot of water.
    be aware trees raised from seed dont always bear palatable fruit, cutting usually do but are usually best graphed to a root stock, i find it better to buy an established tree but if you want the fun of seeing if you can get a cutting to grow go for it just dont expect to much.

      Cherry trees are generally propagated by grafting. Named cultivars will not come true from seed.

      Trees grown from seed or cuttings will be much larger trees than those grafted onto a chosen rootstock, and will be slower to start fruiting.
