  • Storing carrots short term

    Hi

I've got a few carrots that I want to pull up, but not enough to warrant storing them for a very long time. I also don't have any space to store a lot of veg, as we live in a one bedroom flat.

At the moment I'm pulling them up a few at a time, but they go kind of spongy really quickly. Has anyone got any advice?

Also, what's the best way to store swede (given my space problems!) - we're going to eat our first tonight, but have lots to come. I'd like to freeze some I think - what's the best way to do that?

    Thanks

    Michelle

    Michelle,

I've never used them myself, but my mum & sister-in-law both say the 'stay fresh' bags from Lakeland Limited really work - they are reusable, so may be worth trying out for a fiver?

Fantastic, thanks - I work in Chichester and we happen to have a Lakeland a 5 minute walk from my office. That's my lunch break sorted tomorrow then!

Should I put them in the fridge or not?

Hello Michelle, just prepare your veg for use, spread them out on a tray, put them in the freezer til frozen then tip them into a freezr bag and clip shut. If you have small amounts of carrot and swede this should work well fo you.
