Asparagus in containers

having said that just looked at connovers colossal and Crocus have them reduced to 1.99 for 3 crowns

Ahh that was one i was looking at, just ordered one of their green and purple crown packs

I've just seen those, they look very interesting. The crowns came very well packed and had damp paper wraped round them. Good luck.

im being a freak and growing my asparagus plants from seed - doing very nicely in their seed modules but i have no idea what to do with for the rest of this year - next year i`ll have another patch of lawn dug over into a plot just for them but for now... well lets see what happens

Ok can I please ressurect this post as it's asparagus time again shortly.
I sowed mine from seed last spring and have got them nice rootbound now in 4 inch pots.
I want to put them into 25litre containers a la PW method but need to know if I have to dig the trench thing and spread the roots out like you would in the normal bed or plant them like you would a plant?
Make sense?

And does putting them in containers mean the plants will burn out quicker?

And does it mean that this year they are one year old and so need to wait another year at least before cutting any or does this count as year one as they will have been moved to their final position?
