I would officially like to declare my DS 'Mummy's Little Helper! Mind you, at 28 he may not appreciate that I was digging over another small area of what was our patio when he asked if I wanted a hand. He had that patch, 8' by 6' dug in no time at all, and the manure dug in and the edging slabs too. It may not have been dug as I would but IT IS DONE! Bless him

I have trodden it over and raked it flat, how long do I need to wait before I can plant 'stuff' out?

if it was me, I'd want to sit and have a brew before i plant otherwise follow the instructions on the pack

My part of the bargain was to make tea and homemade pizza. That's done and cooking
I wondered about time to leave it as I know some plants don't like a 'loose' soil.

I wouldn't wait, if you've trodden it down and firm in anything you plant you shouldn't have problem. It's gonna rain like mad on Monday so get a step ahead and you won't need to water them after the initial watering when planting.

OK, bean poles up, a mix of runner bean plants and seeds planted with the odd sweetpea for good measure. Little gem lettuce down the middle. Leeks, cabbage, onion sets and a row of peas in place in the new bed! All ready to be rained on tomorrow Thankyou for your comments.
