  • Propogate Camellia

    Hi,
Is it possible to propogate Camellia using cuttings? My neighbour has a beautiful large camellia and wondered if I could ask him for a cutting. Alternatively if I buy a new plant how soon do they flower?

    Thnx
    cheers Reks

Reks I'm sure you can propagate Camelias the same way as rhododendrons.
Take a low growing branch and where it has a growing bud press it into the ground (or a pot) and peg it down. It will root from there but will take some time - I leave them for a year. When it has rooted cut it from the parent plant and dig it up.

Clematis can be done the same way but they root much more quickly.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

ok thanks, Could I cut the growing brach and then press it in soil or does it have to be part of the plant when I press it into soil?
      cheers Reks
