  • Tom advice please?

    Hi
I potted on my toms today into their final bags, and I am so chuffed I was planning on leaving the wooden slats on the top of the staging for the time being, I need the space for potting on stuff, do you reckon that will be ok?
Also the plants have shoots coming out of the elbows already, should I take them off now or wait a bit?
    Many thanks guys

Oh and by the way filling those tomato troughs was a pain, not a good design

If the shoots are big enough to get hold of, they're big enough to pinch out
And, the slats will be ok as long as they're getting enough light - if they look like they're leaning for light you might have to rethink

Hi there looking good to me. As for the side shoots providing that they are not bush type tomatoes, then I would think the quicker you remove the side shoots the easier for you and better it will be for the plant !

From what I can work out so far, bush type toms do not need side shoots removed, however it might be best to aske someone more in the know on that one!

How to prune your tomato plants with pictures.

It does I think If I was left to my own devices I would have just had the main stem and cut everything else off. Probably on the bush ones as well Now I just have to work out which of the plants from ebay are bush and which aren't!!!!!!!
