Advice Re Soil PLEASE X

Hi there, this is the soil in my plots. I have tested it and it is Alkaline. I have dug in 3 weeks ago well rotted manure, and am wanted in know the least back breaking way to turn in into small chunks etc. Rake? Hoe? Skip? lol
Can anyone advise me please?

I think if you have already dug it over, i would lightly fork it, and then keep working with a rake...i don't think there is an easy alternative other than to just keep working it.
If you've done the digging, then the worst of it is done

I've been told by several people just to plant spuds because they will break up the ground easily for you ready for next year. Dunno if it's true, ask me again next year LOL!

I just get the fork, stick the first few inches in, then sort of twirl it round a bit with your wrist all over the bed, then leave it for a day, and rake after.

Be warned raking is an extreme sport if you do it properly. Murdered my back last week doing it

I sow my seeds into modules, so that I only have to break down the soil around the holes I am transplanting into. The lumps of clay on my lottie were encyclopedia sized in places...and I sieve small patches where the carrots are sown as they go in-situ. I don't think there is any easy answer.

I swear by my garden claw Chelle, it's easier on the back than a fork or spade prior to raking. Good for the hips too, bonus!
