Chilled plants

I cant believe I left the greenhouse door open last night! peppers looking a bit droopy and the aubergines are looking very sorry for themselves, droopy and chilled.
Whats the best thing to do?
I hope I dont lose them it went to 1.5 last night! I could have sworn it was all closed up

I'm sorry to hear about this Fiona - you can probably expect the worst with temperatures bottoming out at 1.5C. Peppers and aubergines are chill-sensitive crops, their growth stops at around 12C and chilling injury will occur between 0 and 10C, the onset of damage being more rapid the lower the temperature. I'd bin them and start again and don't forget to shut that greenhouse door at night!

Good news is I think it was eldest son who opened gh up first thing, bad news it was way too cold for the aubergines anyway. I dont think I will start again with them, they need a long growing season. If these dont perk up, (unlikely) I may have to resort to the garden centre.

I have little aubs on the go [only a couple but I only want to try 1 this year]....if they don't perk up I can send one down to you well packaged of course.

If it was left to my OH, most of my stuff would be dead by now "The heater doesn't need to be that high...."

What a shame FionaH. I think you can only wait and see what happens - but it doesn't sound good.
It's a bit late to start again with peppers and aubs - not enough year left. But the garden centre will have nice ones. Try not to cry.

They seemed to have perked up some, after some warm water and gentle apologies So fingers crossed. I didnt quite cry but the neighbours may have been shocked by a swearing woman in jammas
