    first timer for growing potatoes

    can someone please explain the rules regarding planting pots, ive read so much about it that im now confused, dont understand all this first crop and second crop stuff i just thought you put them in and watched them grow, also when are they ready for harvesting and how long can i keep planting them for, i would like some for xmas dinner

        Spuds are early or maincrop (you can get 2nd early in the middle, but don't worry about that for now.)

        Earlies are ready about June. Maincrops stay in the ground until you want them, or until blight strikes. If blight is around, you dig up and store your maincrops in about August.

        If you want December spuds, you need to have some maincrops stored in bags. People will always try to grow earlies for Xmas dinner, but with little success.

              you got your spuds yet ckfe? Looking back in my journal They arrived a week after ordering...still chitting now - got some small green shoots on - I think should be ready for planting.......now to find time after work.....

                nope still not got them lemon, it's been 10 days now.. my composter is being delivered today though, i'm soooooooo excited

                a journal sounds like a good idea, it'll give me something to do while i'm at work
