im new to gardening, but have keenly caught the bug, would like to know some easy crops that would take me through the winter, have not got a big garden so alot of growing going on in containers, any suggestions please
please dont suggest sprouts bad childhood food memories

I am also growing in containers and have so far got;
Radishes
Beetroot
Carrots
Onions
Sweetcorn
Courgettes
Tomatoes (in a grow bag)
and sorry but brussels too.
They all seem to be doing ok at the monent, i just have a garden full of tubs now

spinach [ keep it covered during the worst weather], celeriac [ best to buy plug plants now though], parsnips, potatoes, salsify/scorzonera, carrots, lambs lettuce[also keep covered].
Someone will be along with more suggestions soon i expect

Kale, especially the dwarf/curly varieties, would be great in containers, you could do a few leeks in deep containers. There's a variety of cabbage called Minicole which would be good, although they might need fleecing later in the season. I think swedes would struggle in containers, but you might get a few turnips, again covered over later in the season. Hardy salad leaves, spinach, swiss chard could give you pickings for a few months too.
