good book for a newbie?

can anyone recommend an idiots guide to growing veg book? i'm looking for something simple but with lots of info

I always recommend 'The Vegetable and Herb Expert' by Dr D.G. Hessayon. Simple and straightforward - I wouldn't be without my copy.

I've got Grow your Own Veg by Carol Klein and I love it, nice, simple and clear, brilliant! Like you I love reading and managed to get a heap of old gardening mags from freecycle so I'm now beginning to feel like a 'real gardener!'

I have Alan Titchmarsh's The Kitchen Gardener, and as a relative newbie to growing veg would definitely recommend it.

The Allotment Book by Andi Clevely is a lovely read as well as full of info and great photos.

Have The Allotment Book by Andi Clevely and Grow Your Own Veg by Carol Klein (amongst many many others) and both of them are very good. Would also recommend Food from your allotment and your garden by Readers Digest which includes veg, fruit, herbs and much much more.

I've got the new self sufficient gardener by John Seymour. Lots of photos and pictures and plants grouped by families, good for a beginner like me. The internet is invaluable for advice

i am new to gardening too and i just got, growing your own fruit and veg for dummies. it has almost every veg in, lots of useful tips. also tells you organic methods for some pests too. and its on sale at amazon 8 pound instead of 16!

I like the look of that, I've had a couple of good Dummies books in the past.
