I bought the Alan Titchmarsh, kitchen gardener one and I also got a river cottage handbook on veg
Veg Patch: River Cottage Handbook No.4 River Cottage Handbook 4: Mark Diacono: Amazon.co.uk: Books

Both very good but I use them differently as the Alan Titchmarsh one is very big so I can take the river cottage one out to the garden with me but have the big one by my bed as it's generally when I'm supposed to be trying to get to sleep that I start thinking about the veg and what I need to do

I've got the RHS Vegetables in a Small Garden: Simple Steps to Success

It's got good simple information and lots of step-by-step pictures.

I agree with daisybee. Carol Klein's book is my bible!

Hi everyone. The RHS book "Vegetables" by Tony Biggs is brilliant and covers everything from raising seed,to harvesting, in text and diagrams. It's good for pests and diseases too. Along with the Dr Hessayan book, you can't go wrong. I'm with you ckfe...I love books and am always on the lookout for more but I always end up referring to the two mentioned above. Cheers.
I'd give up chocolate but I'm no quitter!

I have the vegetable and herb guide but the latest addition to my book collection is great,
Vegetable Growing Month-by-month: The Down-to-earth Guide That Takes You Through the Vegetable Year: John Harrison: Amazon.co.uk: Books

it gives you a month to month guide and has a section at the back which gives information on the different types of veg, it gives information on preparing soil, pros and cons of greenhouses/polytunnels and loads of other info

                        The Works

If you have' a The Works' store near you then they have a great selection of grow your own books, and books about lotties, at the moment.

We dashed in out the rain this morning and had a good look. It was hard but I resisted the temptation to buy the lot cos they are very cheap in there. I did buy a garden journal, because I scribble things down on scraps of paper and the backs of envelopes and then lose them.
