I am growing courgettes for the first time and ive got a variety called black beauty. Am i right in thinking that they grow up a cane like tomatoes or do they branch out more like a rhubarb plant?

and why we need big freezersI could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

You can grow no problems in a pot but the yield tends to be slightly lower than in the ground - still a good crop though
Re the Black Beauty, grew one a couple of years ago (thankfully from a seed swap) and think they're a rip off. They're no different from any other type of non compact courgette and just sprawl a bit, you can train them up but no more than loads of other (cheaper) varieties and considering you get so few in the packet then it makes them comparatively expensive (although still much cheaper than buying in the (not)supermaket). Nice dark green fruits though which all got eaten.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
