Help red bugs!?! please help!

Hello all I am having an issue with these red bugs , I have no idea what they are and was not worried at first as they had only got to the butterfly bush in the garden and were not causing damage.

But now I have found them on the lettuce in the greenhouse and I am wondering what action I should take to eradicate them.

Oh and sorry to add if I used any pesticides I do have cats so need to be wary , so any suggestions appreciated.

Where you need to control them, squirt with a few drops of washing up liquid in a spray bottle of cold water. Or squish manually - messy but curiously satisfying!

They are on the edibles aswell ...

That's what I meant. Eventually the small garden birds will find them on the buddleia. You can use washing up liquid on your salad crops. You use it on your plates and knives and forks. And you'll wash the salad. I'm living proof it don't kill you!

Can you pop your lettuces outdoors, they don't like it hot....and other bugs will also come along and eat them

Thanks very much I will do that , I was just worried about washing up liquid on growing crops , I will get on this in the evening as not to get anything scorched , so just 1 or 2 drops of washing up liquid and cold water on anything with these little blighters and I should be ok?

P.S I will be doing some squashing later aswell!

Can you pop your lettuces outdoors, they don't like it hot....and other bugs will also come along and eat them

It has been very windy and wet here so I did decide to leave them in but if putting them out is the best thing I will do so
