Eeeek! i went out to my mini greenhouse to see how my veggies were doing and realsed it looked like the soil in my sweetcorn tub was moving. I lifted it out for closer inspection and it was full of ants There are loads of them, odly in none of the other containers. Are ants partial to sweetcorn? anyway, my dad told me to put ant powder on the top of the soil to kill them off, and so i did but now im just wondering if they may have damaged the corns roots. All the sweetcorn seem fine apart from one which they have munched in half and eaten most of the leafs off does anyone have any ideas to save my veggies?

thanks tulip. Will have to try that. I very carefully eased my sweetcorn out of their pot to take a look at the roots, and they had been eaten on half of them! the rest had lots of little white spots on, almost like mould but i guess they could have just been ant eggs. So i decided best thing to do was dispose of tainted soil, wash out the tub. Then i filled it with fresh soil and planted new seeds. So its back to square one, in the bedroom windowsill. I will definately invest in some mint plants. Even if they dont detair the ants, i can use it in my potatoesThe best fertilizer is the gardener's shadow.
