  • Borlotti and butter beans?

    Hi all!

I have some Borlotti and Butter beans on my allotment. Ive already harvested a few but was wondering if I waited til the foliage was kiled off by the frost and then harvested them all, would this be ok?

We've had a slight frost up to now but the foliage still looks healthy and I thought this might allow any imature beans to fill the pods!

    All recommendations gratefully received!

Snadger I would have thought that the frost would damage the beans. I would harvest them and freeze them.

Thanks Lesley. Nature solved my dilemma for me as it happens!

Got to the lottie late today to find the leaves looking extremely wilted to say the least!

Picked most of the beans (two full carrier bags full! )

Bought some botles of Newcastle Brown Ale on the way home and I am going to sit shelling the beans, drinking my beer, whilst watching Newcastle Utd try to claw there way back up the Premier League!

      Howay the lads!!!!!

You should be used to that now Snadger I had an enjoable afternoon watching the Rugger on the Telly.
Those Chappies from Wales played spiffing & certainly gave the Ausies a good match.

And our gallant lads beat the ex-convictts at Rugby League as well so a jolly time for all
