This was red sweet pepper bought from Tesco. The plants produced peppers that looked like sweet peppers. But boy were they hot not sweet!

Peppers and chillis are self-pollinating, they don't need insects for pollination. You can help it along a bit by just tickling the flowers with an artists paintbrush, or even a cotton-bud, but it's not absolutely necessary.
They can be grown outside, especially if you have a nice sunny & sheltered place to put them, but make sure you gradually acclimatise them to the outdoors by putting them out during the day, and bringing them in at night for a week or so first (known as hardening off the plants) Or they can be grown indoors on a sunny windowsill, or in a greenhouse

I've never grown them growbags OWG, so I dunno?! I would imagine that you can, but they do get quite bushy so you'd only get 2 in one bag I think, in which case you might be better off cutting them in half and using them on end like a pot so that you get more depth for the roots.Last edited by SarzWix; 26-05-2009, 10:53 AM.

I've got some in grow bags (3 to a bag but only with a open bottomed pot on top) and some in pots, did the same last year and got a similar crop off both methods.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

If you have spares, I would have thought your local primary school or pre-school would take any extras for the children to tend to.
Mine are always grateful for plants.
Or put them outside your gate and ask for a few pence for them (harden them off first or they will keel over quick lol)

I work at a kids club. We are growing sunflowers and the children love it, we have limited space but i'll ask the school if they all last that long. Thanks for the idea. Hx"Hmm, that doesn't make much sense to me. But then, you are very small... I always liked going south. Somehow feels like going downhill."
