  • Ideal world channel plants

I don't know if anyone has seen them but I am new to all of this and say some plants on the ideal world channel 4 fruit trees for 29.99 i think and wondered if anyone else has order from them and how they went. They also had some beautiful strawberry plants i was interested in and was thinking about it. So if anyone has tried plants from off the TV i would like to know what you think, plus I have also seen some on QVC which look good.
Thank You for any responses. xxx

That seems pricey to me. I feel (having been caught out in the past with craft stuff) that you need to be really selective about products offered on these shopping channels.

Depends on what they are and how old they are, what kind of rootstock etc. At that price they're likely to be pretty small things, the kind of thing you would probably get at Wilkinson's or a pound shop.

They are suposed to be quite large branched trees , not feathered maidens, i think 3 years old, could be 2 though , they looked quite good but not tried them , the price seems quite good

Yeah, don't forget your paying for p&p as well so it's not £29.99. But... my mum got 3 trees, they are about.... *runs outside to measure*..... 141cm (measuring from soil up). The cherry and the apple both have buds and we spied 1 bud on the plum yesterday. First time of having them. Be ready for them when they come though. You have to soak them for a while, think one lable said two hours and then each tree said 12 to 16 or something. Very confusing, we just soaked them for the day then planted them. I have no idea if this is good value though.

I just checked and P&P is £6.95 so that's... hang on... £36.94... for four trees. Mum only got three... still dunno how good value that is?
Hope that helps, I'll try and get a pic for you if you'd like?

The trees look about 5 foot if not taller in pots, and if I bought them from a catalogue i would be paying for postage as i dont have a car. Plus how much is too much for a 2 to 3 year old fruit tree a Victoria plum can be about 15-30 pounds each let alone a stella cherry an apple and pear thrown in. I think i will buy and report back, seeing how they fruit and so on.

I bought these about 1 month ago, the plants ranged from 5 to 5.5 foot in height. M27 and colt rootstocks.
When they came they had been in a freezer, so looked dried. Put them in a bucket of water overnight before planting, all are in good leaf and the plum and cherry are in flower.

Delivery was the only problem, took 13 days to come.

Similar trees are in my local garden centre for £28 each, but would not fit in my car. They are asking for £10 delivery charge making a total £122. I paid a total of £36.93 from Ideal World

Very impressed with mine so far.

PS Ideal World also trade under "GardenBargains.com" who have an advert in the July GYO (page 31).
