Seedy stuff

I have loads of packets of seeds - vegetable, fruit and flowers seeds - but they are well over 6 years old. Does anyone know if they are still usable or would I be wasting my time trying to grow them?

Sorry SarzWix - did read the post rules before posting but obviously unsure of what I'm doing atm. Thanks for moving it to the appropriate place.

I did want to find out if it was worth going to the trouble of planting the seeds, cos if not might as well throw them in the bin now.

Hi,
I had some out of date seed packets + was advised on here to try germinating some of each, between sheets of damp kitchen towel. It was really helpful advice, as could then see which packs were dud and which were o.k. and worth planting. Surprisingly most were still fine.

Definitely go with the germinate a few on kitchen paper. Some seeds remain viable for years, others less so, it will depend as much upon the type of seed than anything else.
