Ivy from seed?

Not found an awful lot here so wondering is anyone can tell me anything about planting ivy from seed, like what is it's germination temp, how long to seedlings show etc?

I am gonna take some ivy cuttings from a mate but would like to try some from seed as I cannot find any Boston Ivy as I love the fact it turns from green to red.

Have to say, I never heard of ivy seed.
Why not grow it from cuttings.
