green toms??

hi guys, ive got 2 tomato plants....they both have green tomatoes on them but they just seem to be taking ages to do anything and go red??

is this because the weathers been so poo and we've not had a lot of sunshine??

are they ever going to go red??

(on the plus side, ive had some lovely runner beans!! )

Yes, eventually they will turn red or any other colour depending the variety. Tomatoes love dry and hot conditions. Please view a sample from my allotment.

Don't worry, they will turn red. I take it they're growing outside. Are they bush varieties or cordons?

I've not had any of my outdoor ones go red yet. In the greenhouse, I still have many varieties that haven't coloured up. In a couple of weeks you'll be asking for tomato recipes you'll have so many - they all seem to go at once!

My cherry ones are only just starting to go red, had 2 so far and they have been worth the wait!! The larger cordon varieties are still taking their time!

Hi ya, as everyone else said, yes they will feaar not.
I had a couple beging to turn on Saturday. I've come hme from work to find a load more are just turning too.
I think I'm right in saying that an over ripe banana can help (I'm I'm wrong perhaps a kind grape will correct me).
I generally try to allow the sun to do its thing, adds to the flavour!

yes both are outside, one of them is a gardeners delight i picked up from tesco for 50p, its only got 4 trusses on it though.....the other one ive got im not sure what it is, someone from work picked it up outside some allotments whilst walking her dog.........that has 6 trusses on it and seems to be doing better than the tesco one

Most of my outdoor ones aren't showing much colour yet - I think I've one Black Cherry just browning up and one of the Red Alerts on the allotment looks like it will be rip by weekend. Outside, they are really up against it in parts of this country!

The outdoor ones I HAVE had toms from are 3 to a pot and stopped at the second truss. A good way to get early crops but naturally you are limiting what you will get overall. The reason is that these are my home-reared crosses or un-hybrids and I wanted early results.

I don't think your Gardener's Delights are all that far off.

both plants ive been pinching out now.....i didnt realise how big they could grow!! lol

im really enjoying growing my own veg, people are getting in to it at work too, got some lovely courgettes from the receptionist today
