It does hunt other insects though which eat our crops.

Many, many thanks for putting my mind at ease with this---If I see anymore I will carefully dig it back into the soil--my friend-no more 'cutting you in half'!--Kathie

Thank you for that as I started doubting myself as my father always told me they were pests!
I think some of our co-habitees are both beneficial and not , so it's a balance I think.
Not many fast moving insects/etc are hervivors I think.
This one is probably an omnivor???

Now you have made me look up the dictionary for those two names -Omniverous is in the dictionary but not hervivors!--Kathie

I might be worth getting a copy of Biological Control in Plant Protection by Neil Helyer, Kevin Brown, Nigel D Cattlin published by Manson Publishing ISBN 1-874545-28-6. www.manson-publishing.co.uk It is a bit technical but does help to identify benificial insects and gives some practical tips for gardeners.

If only I had posted this 'thread' before Christmas when hints were being dropped about pressies--Now I have to buy my own--Thanks for your suggestion or I might just get it from the Library?--Kathie
