  • Winter sown green manure

    Hi Guys

I know this will be on here somewhere, be I can't work out how to search...
I've got a couple of beds that are bare, and I wondered if there were any green manures that I could plant now.

    Any suggestions?

It's too late to be sowing them now. It's too wet, cold and dark for seed to germinate, sorry.

You could cover with cardboard/manure, and dig that in, in spring.

As to searching, click on Search/Advanced Search. Then type in "green + manure" (Titles, not Posts) and you'll get a few threads to browse through.

manure, straw and paper piled on top will work well and really enrich the soil when its dug in. It also warms the beds up as it rots down so you can get a couple of weeks head start planting in spring.
      Good luck
