The weak point was about 10cm above where the blue pipes meet the ground. Because they are hollow, they are flexible, so when the wind blew enough it just tilted until it practically laid flat.

Once solution would be to fill the pipes with something, but the flexibility is useful in itself.
Will post pictures of Mark II in due course (I.e. when I've built it.)

To keep my tubing in the ground I used old tent poles... banged them into the ground leaving approx 6" above for the tubing to slot on to... works a treat (my plot is on the top of a hill).

i have just found this on Gardening-natually.co.uk

"Crops may be covered all the year round from planting right up to harvest. Lay flat over the bed allowing enough slack for the growth of the crop, bury the edges or secure with pegs ensuring there are no gaps."

it seems to be suggesting that i dont need uprights - would this be a good idea?

        thanks
I have contacted Gardening naturally and they tell me
"Due to the hole sizes it is not possible for the butterflies to lay eggs through Enviromesh."
so i am really confused now?
        Help

I think your question has been answered perfectly. What materials you use & how you use them is a personal choice. Take the advice & you will not go far wrong.
