    10 rods/poles/perches is the normal full size allotment. Also, if you so wish, you can grow traditionally, without beds.

    Beds that are 4 foot (or 1 metre) wide and about 12 foot long with 2 foot paths are the optimum size and save you walking as far.

    Many people use scaffolding boards or decking boards for edging but beds can be made without edges and edged when finaces allow.

    I would suggest you didn't edge them at first as you will find you want to shuffle dtuff around and change sizes the first couple of years. Once you are 100% sure where you would like to keep the beds ........then you can start edging!

      I've just got my first plot and I'm just starting to make plans. I get access from middle of feb and just want to take it easy this year

      can't wait! don't even know what size it is yet! but 4' x 10' sound good
