I always plant my tomato plants in 12 month rotted manure.
I fill a 20ft x 4ft with the manure then dig my holes and put two handfuls of multicompost or growbag soil and put the tomato plants in. Last year I had the earliest red tom's on the site and the harvest was great. I also do this for cucumbers and the squash family.
