  • Planting in a Warmer Climate

Hi all, have a question loosely based around last nights TV programme about climate change.....which is a bad thing for sure n everything

    .....but.....

has anyone thought about what crops may do well in the warmer climate (assuming the gulf stream does not get shut off and we all freeze!)

The programme mentioned olive, almond, citrus fruits and (undisclosed) 'spices'

Thought about expensive things like vanilla but it seems limited to humid equatorial areas

Global warming sucks but hey, this is a gardening forum!

    thanks in advance!

Well, palms spring to mind as they have them in parts of Scoltland already ( gulf stream again). As to Vanilla, keep iot in a greenhouse & just keep damping down, that should do the trick

Not all good news on the gardening front though - think of those winds we got last week!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Ginger needs plenty wet and warmth, so we may grow that. I'm looking forward to getting my lemon and olive trees going, grapes should do well to.
