Seeds from a shop bought melon.

I've taken some from the melon we had at breakfast this morning, washed all the melon flesh off them, and have dried them out on some paper.

Would I need to do anything else to be able to plant them (mainly as an experiment) - I'm not interested in saving their seeds, just after some more fruit.

I'll also buy some melon seeds (want to grow them) - but when I saw these I thought I may as well give them a shot.

I did exactly the same last year. Got 2 plants and 4 melons but the taste was out of this world

I did the same as this last year and got a couple of galias. I think I read somewhere that after cleaning and drying the fruit, when you come to sow them put them in water. Those that float are not viable as they are empty. Those that sink are heavier and therefore - in theory - have a seed "heart".
Of course I might have dreamt all that, but if I did it was very vivid
