Mould on Biodegradable Seed Pots

I think I must be doing all my seed planting wrong!

I have followed what it says in my book which is to plant dwarf peas in to biodegradable seed pots...but because the fibre stays damp they seem to have white mould starting to grow

Is this because I have put them somewhere too sunny (like with my spring onions) which is in a porch which east/south east facing? I am thinking it is and am also thinking that rather than risking mould in my peas (eurgh) I might have to throw them away and re-sow them.

Is this the best bet? Am I better to re-sow and place on a north-west facing windowsill....?

Or is it better to not use the biodegradable pots?

I get that too but i don't worry about it, doesn't seem to affect the plants

My loo roll pots have grey fur all over em - not worried - didn't bother the seedlings last year. You could cut back on the watering but I wouldn't worry too much
EDIT: Can you not put them outside? My peas are in the ground and a few more in placcie greenhouse. (Depends on your weather/location though) Although after the crazy weather we just had I'm guessing the ones outside are sulking right about now

Oh ok! Thank you! Was worried that I was doing things wrong, or that I have some kind of a mould problem in my porch!

I have same prob have been waiting for said peas to appear and still no sign. Is it a case of bin and begin again.
1 sweet pea has come up but thats it. I have peas in at the allotment and they have started to sprout.

Have a fertle in the soil it sounds like they have rotted

No, it's because you are over-watering

Thank you. Its just that on some days they have seemed completely dried out - its like the fibre pot takes the moisture out of the soil but then stay soggy Think I am not going to bother using them again, will stick to plastic pots where I know where I am at!

I don't use fibre or peat pots for this very reason. They either dry right out (and soak moisture out of the compost) or stay soggy and go mouldy.

Snap! Just can't get on with them.

All mine have rotted off so have replanted into plastic pots. I reuse the pots time and time again as long as my dog doesn't get hold of them.
I don't think the loo rolls are worth the hassle.
