      Hi

      Compost by definition is old

      What do you mean?

Is it compost that had been in a bag for a year, in a compost bin for a year, in old pots that have had a previous plant in it?

I use the age old; if it looks thin and dusty then mix it in with new. If it looks fat and crumbly and lovely and brown, then just use it.

Oh, and Welcome to the Vine.

For pricking out I wouldn't think it would need much fertiliser. If it's bag compost, just use it. As Zaz says, if it's been used for previous plants, mix it with a bit of new. At this stage the plants don't need much feed.
