  • How romantic

My wife has started to show signs of encouragement to the whole home-grown, allotment idea she even asked me to get something for the kitchen that we could put all our peelings etc in to help with the compost, and anyone that knows my wife will tell you she's very house proud so it came as a bit of a shock .

Anyway, we will soon be the proud owners of one of these dainty little things: http://www.evengreener.com/Scripts/p...?idproduct=119

In return I have bought her a pair of pink wellies with sparkly hearts on for valentine's day! Kidding of course, but I might try her reaction on the day!

She did tell me last night that she has bought some bits for me for the allotment as valentine's gifts, heaven only knows what I'll get!?...

We've got one of those, it's dead useful although it does fill up a bit quick sometimes. Much better than the old plastic ice cream tub we had previously.

Re the pink wellies, go for it, they sound fab

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Very tasteful HW. Like the sound of the wellies too. Mr EB brought me some pink and white ones with flowers on for Christmas. Bless him!

A question for Alison - does the compost crock have an inner liner for easier emptying? If it does, then I'm up for one - have to buy it myself though as I already have my valentine gift (two summer sweaters).

No, it's just a pot although it does have a filter in the lid to stop any smells (works well so long as you dry it out when you empty the bin and change now and again when it gets manky). It's not that big so I just take it down the garden every few days when it gets full. Don't think ours cost that much but have had it about 5 years and as I said before it looks quite smart on the kitchen work surface.

Summer sweaters!!!!! You'll need both of them on at this time of year

              Bugger!

Wellies (pink shiny-hearted ones) arrived yesterday. The lady wife tried them on and they're no good!

The boots fit alright except for the bit around the calf (part of leg, not livestock). Does anyone know of a wellie maker that has "larger" openings for calves, and makes them in size 8's?

                Pink? - link.

Oh sorry HeyWayne the link I've posted to pink wellies (Hunters!) is for size 3 or 4 only - £30, is that a good deal?

Woot - where do you get Hunters for 30 quid? I got a pair for my birthday (from my dad) and they were 50 quid - yikes! Also, Hunters are quite slim in the leg and not sure if they do a wider option.

Click on the word 'pink?' shirl in the post - its MandM direct they have dead cheap stuff check it out - got a cheap Berghaus goretex jacket for £120.

I thought Hunters were only for the 'rah rah' set shirl?

LOL, I wear wellies a lot in winter doing my horses. Got fed up of wearing cheap uncomfy ones and getting cold feet or wet feet when the darned things split! Dad asked what I wanted for my birthday so I asked for a pair of Hunters (hadn't had any for years but knew they last ages and are very comfy), kids had bought me fancy fleecy wellie liners for crimbo and I thought a decent pair of wellies would be nice to go with. Must say, however, my Hunters are brown so they don't show the mud

Yes but pink is a much more fetching colour! lol!

Did you follow the link in my first post? I sometimes wonder whether everyone realises that words in green/underlined are 'links'?

I too have problems with wide calves (too much cycling/riding/walking as a kid!) and a size 8.
I'm afraid I gave up on boots altogether - stick to the walking boot style these days. If you wear tight leg jeans/trousers it works quite well, and I don't need to get up to my knees in mud very often these days (except on Bubblewrap's birthday!!)
