Pepper / Chilli plant colour advice please

Hi All
I am a pepper virgin.
I have 6 varieties of sweet pepper through to hot chilli plants growing from seed in my window. All are about 8 inches high. I have noticed that all the plant stems are changing from green to a brownish / purplish colour above the first leaves and upwards.

Is this normal.

PS the plants all look very healthy.

Yes depending on which types you have - I have one chilli with very attractive dark and green and almost black leaves.
