Where Do I Begin?

Greetings All. A Complete Novice Gardener Would Welcome Your Advise. Got Myself A Garden, A Greenhouse And Now A Heated Propaegator. Even Got Som Seed Packets. Also An Allotment . May Have Bitten Off More Than I Can Sow!
Question. When The Seeds Have Germinated In The Propagator, Do I Leave The Pots/trays In The Propagator To Grow On A Little, Or Do I Remove Them To The Greenhouse (cold) Or Keep Them In A Warm Room For Pricking Out Later . Help!

Hi Sparker - a local, at last!
Start slow. Nice and easy does it. Don't sow anything too early - its tempting, but you'll just lose them all if we have a cold wet spring like last year. We don't use a propagator at all, just a cold greenhouse, windowsills etc. Get yourself a copy of the Allotment Handbook or Grow Your Own Veg (see separate Threads for the best prices, or order from your library)

Welcome to the Vine. Seems like you've got most things you need, including a forum to talk things over with!
Your next move depends on which seeds have you planted. Some things like it cold, some like it warm! Generally speaking, if things have started off warm, it is cruel to put them out in the cold straight away, so maybe you could keep them in a coolish part of indoors, but not in a cold greenhouse just yet.
Wait for the weather to warm up a bit first.

However, there are some things you could be starting outside soon. Usually the packets give quite good information on that. We are going to start our parsnips and leeks from seed soon, probably in a cold frame and then plant them when they've come on a bit.

There are plenty of wiser grapes on this vine who will be along later to give you more advice.

Hi Sparker, and welcome to the madhouse known as the vine! Sounds to me like you are going to be having fun this year, as to planting now, if you've any onion sets or garlic, then you could try planting them now, but otherwise I'd hang fire for a bit and wait for the weather to imrpove! I'm sure a few more of the other more experienced grapes will be along soon to share their advice!

Hello Sparker and welcome to the Vine. If you just reply everyone can read it . If you want to say something special just say Hi So and So. You,ve definately got all the equipment there. If you're a compete Newbie at growing your seeds will have the best chance if you put off sowing til the weather is warmer. In reply to your question about your seeds in a propagator (I never use one) as soon as your seeds have germinated take them out or they will get very leggy very quickly. But you can't put them straight out in the cold. I would put them on a windowsill out of sunlight for a few days then move them to the greenhouse if the weathers OK.
If you don't already know about fleece (it's white papery stuff) you can buy it in B&Q or garden centres (not expensive) and use it to cover your seeds when it's cold. Hope this helps. Look forward to hearing how you get on.

Hi sparker and welcome just wanted to say hi really good piece of advise i got was start getting ya plants in as soon as your clearing the ground with warmer weather i thought. or make sure you cover it over so the weeds don't start growing back.

Welcome to the vine Sparker. Have fun learning how to grow stuff - don't take it too seriously to begin with or you will end up frustrated as nature won't always want to go along with your plans. Enjoy yourself and see each success or failure as a lesson learned. One big tip - write down how you do everything in a big notebook - that way it is easier to check back on what went right or wrong (especially if like me your memory is not so great).
