Spring Onions - what to do next?

Sorry for all the basic questions

So, my first little seedlings have grown They're in a little tray, are they ok in there for a while longer, or do they need to be moved? I'm guessing they need to be thinned out, but how do I do that without damaging the roots, which I am guessing could be entangled.

I've added a photo of them for you to see what you think - I think I put far too many seeds in the tray

I would separate them into small ish clumps not thin out individually. they'll push each other apart as they grow. What one geezer on here does is plant a clump per module - about ten seeds I think - waits until the roots have filled the module and then plants them out as a whole clump. You then just harvest the whole bunch when big enough. That's what I've started doing. The first batch I did like yours in one pot and then gently pulled them apart in bunches of about 5-10.

Hi ANG. Just to tell you that you need never be too careful with onions. I am just harvesting some that were planted last year. They have been quite happy over winter and (last year was the first year I grew from seed) they were pushed in far too crowded. They are just maturing now. Never rush things with gardens, particularly onions.

Yeah I reckon you could play tennis with onions, swing em round y head by their roots then plant them and they'd still grow happily on - albeit slowly. Very slowly. They're the tree ents of the veg world.
