  • Are my spuds ready?

I an growing swift potatoes in one of those green plastic sack type things. I've earthed them up to the top and let them grow! There is a mass of green leaves sprouting out the bag now! I thought I had to wait for them to flower but the leaves seem to be going limp and drooping. Does this mean they are ready or does it mean they are dying? the variety of potatoe is swift if that helps?!
The best fertilizer is the gardener's shadow.

Have you been watering them regularily?

I have been having a furtle of my earlies but nothing there at the moment but my foliage is still lush green. (See thread on Vegging Out)

    When did you plant them?

Sounds like they need a drink

I have no flowers on one of my buckets, but it had gone a bit droopy and the others haven't. Just had a look, all ready - and have emptied it and got 675g of Lady Christl. VERY happy, this will be perfect for my potato salad on suday for guests

So if I were you, I'd have a wee looksie

edited to say just remembered mine have been in the greenhouse so might be ready a bit earlier

Tatties are very thirsty beasts,I am surrounded by commercial growers and I am amazed at the amount of water they use,but we are on sandy soil by the sea.
