Hi Dawny,
I'm growing a couple of potato sacks of rooster this year. It's too early for me to know what the yield will be though. They are maincrop, so presumably there should be a decent yield?
Anyone?Caro
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day

I grew Rooster last year ( I planted 25kg seed tubers) and was very very pleased with the results. They produced an excellent crop of medium to large tubers which had very little scab and were of excellent quality. The only downside was that the shaws (the bit of the plant above ground) were very tall and this made things difficult for spraying them for blight with my knapsack sprayer, and also meant a lot of material to dispose of at harvesting.Rat

rooster spuds
I grew roosters last year and was really impressed with the flavour. I harvested early because of blight in other plants in my garden, but still got a decent crop.
The taste was great, even the kids comented that they were tasty, without knowing they were home grown.

Just had a look at mine last night - literally just under the surface were quite a few roosters, probably about 3-4cm in size..
Flowers have started to die back - so I'm hoping there are some larger ones down furhter in the sack! (Didn't dig down too much to look incase I broke any spuds!)
