  • Is beetroot a slow growing vegetable?

Mine seem to be growing slowly compared to other things I grow, but they seem healthy. Is this normal?

pretty slow yes: they don't like to be cold, and if you have them outside during spring the sparrows will rip all the leaves off

the cold nights have made them even slower this year, but with some warmth they should catch up..

I am growing a lot of beetroot this year, and it is quite slow growing, especially with the long cold start to the year, but there is no way on God's Green Earth that it is as slow as parsnips
I have some Chioggia and some Cylindra (about 150 of each) in my polytunnel for an early crop and the Chioggia should be ready tostart lifting in about a fortnight - the Cylindra will be about a month away.
All the outside stuff is growing steadily but not yet forming the bulbs.
