poor basil

my basil plants are nearly 2 months old now and are only about 2 inches high and havnt got any taller for a few weeks, could it be the variety? of which i dont know.

i have started picking some tiny leaves i was told it helps to encourage the growth of them

if not the variety what can you suggest can help them a bit?

never worry i just saw a thread all about people with the same problems in the herb bed area

Is it inside or out? Mines still inside and is about 6" - I need to seperate it and pot up.

It may be the kind of basil you are growing - the one you buy in shops has big leaves and it doesn't sound like that one!

if they're outside cloche them, they like the heat.

i have a small pot inside on the windowsill and a window basket in the mini greenhouse

hello there,sounds to me like the compost may be the cause,i had this problem when using B&Q multi compost,in the end i threw them out and bought a couple of growbags,what a difference,basil,red basil and sage now growing away happily (same packets of seeds),so for £1.50 or so you will soon catch up.....good luck with it...

seen a vast improvement after seeing a video online, i put the pots into a dish with water and let it take the water from the bottom the indoors one is going good guns, outside one in the mpc is still slow
